Message from our SWIM COACH:
Four Strokes Fast!
Last year I started my Coach’s letter with a quiz. This year I have a story.

A friend once asked me, “Why is your breaststroke so much stronger than it used to be?” I answered, “I.M.” He asked, “You are, what?” I replied, “4 Strokes Fast.” Later, a second friend commented, “Wow, your butterfly is much smoother than it used to be. What happened?” And I answered, “I.M.” She asked, “You are, what?” And I replied, of course, “4 Strokes Fast.” Soon after, a third friend said, “Your backstroke is so much more powerful than it used to be. What happened?” Once again, I replied, “I.M.” The same question arose, “You are, what?” And I replied confidently, “4 Strokes Fast.” Finally, my first friend said, “You finished your freestyle so much faster than you used to. Don’t tell me…it’s because, ‘you are’. . . no, wait a minute. . . ’I.M.’. . . I AM SOOOO CONFUSED!” As he walked off in a huff, I said quietly, “4 Strokes Fast.” This summer, when people ask me, “Why are the Klahaya swimmers so fast and strong this year?” I am looking forward to telling them, “I.M., of course.” They’ll say, “You
mean ‘They are’, don’t you?” No, I’ll say, “I mean, I.M. -- 4 Strokes Fast.” Frogs, it’s time for Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Free. Find the goggles again, clear the cobwebs off the suits and get ready for a summer of: Starts and Turns, Baby! Swimming Fast to Swim Fast. Seeing the Race, Being the Race, and Winning the Race.
And oh, one more thing: I.M. -- 4 Strokes Fast.

Leanne, Britta, Julia, Maddie and I are all looking forward to seeing you in Lanes 1-6. Start getting excited!

It’s good to be a Frog!

SWIM MEET VOLUNTEERS:
About volunteering, it really does take “all hands on deck” to have a successful meet. We really appreciate the corps of volunteer timers, concessionaires, cooks, ribbon handlers, officials, data crunchers, cookie bakers and every one of the dozens of volunteers who step up for each meet. Be on the lookout for SIGNUP SHEETS posted in the lobby this year.
