🎾Kids’ Tennis Lesson Program

What is it? For many years we have had a wonderful group lesson program for kids ages 4 and up. Lessons are designed to be fun and teach kids how to hit all the shots and play tennis. The lessons are Monday–Wednesday. Groups are divided by skill levels to make the most of the 45-minute sessions.

Note – We have altered the schedule slightly this year to accommodate our Frogs 🐸 that love to swim and play tennis. In the past, the sessions have always been two weeks Monday–Wednesday. However, we observed that last year there were several tennis families that had a difficult time committing to two weeks around vacations and other summer plans. This year, we hope to offer a couple single-week options. The full two-week session will get them through each stroke—Forehand, Backhand, Volleys, Serve, Overhead & ‘Magic Ticket Day’.

Beginners: For our younger Frogs (Age 6 & Up), those who have never played tennis or took Beginner’s lessons last year and haven’t played much tennis since.

Advanced Beginners : For tennis players that were in Advanced Beginner lessons last year. Advanced Beginners should be able to have a 4–5 shot rally with an opponent, hit basic volleys, and get the serve in.

Intermediate: This group is for anyone that was in Intermediate lessons last year. Intermediate players should be able to sustain rallies with opponents, hit some winners, and be able to volley, overhead, and serve with consistency.

Advanced: Advanced players must get permission from Tennis Coach or Pro. Advanced lessons are for players seeking to be, or already playing, varsity level tennis.

Tiny Tots: This is for our youngest Frogs (4 & 5 Year Olds). These pure fun ‘lessons’ will focus on games, catch, movement, coordination, and will include the foundation of forehand, backhand, volley, and overheads.

🎾 Adults or Kids –Private Tennis Lessons

What is It? Private Lessons for kids or adults are a terrific way to focus on anything you want to improve in your game. From Beginners to the most Advanced, tennis is the sport of a lifetime—there is always something to improve. They can be 1-on-1 or in any small group, maximum of 4. Lessons will either be given by Tennis Pro or Tennis Coaches. Lessons from Tennis Coaches can improve any issue with young players’ games very quickly.

Schedule In May and June, lessons can be coordinated with Steve at a mutually agreed time. When tennis season begins June 23, to coordinate the Private Lessons with all the other programs, here are some specific times lessons will be available: Mondays: 4–5pm, Wednesdays: 4–5pm, Thursdays: 8–11am

Scheduling:

If you would like to schedule a private lesson with our Tennis Pro, Steve Kauffman, please reach out to him to discuss his availability and rates.

Our summer tennis coaches are available for private lessons, either one-on-one or in small groups. All coaches are required to charge the standard club private lesson rate. Coach biographies and contact information are listed below. As always, your support and appreciation for our coaches’ time and dedication are greatly valued.

Nathan Holt (206) 422-0039

Nathan played varsity at Blanchet High School for 4 years. He has continued to play while at Notre Dame and enjoys seeing kids improve every day. He has coached at Klahaya for the last five years and is excited to be back for another summer.

Blake Gettman (206) 501-8066

I am comfortable teaching all ages and skill levels. I have been playing tennis at Klahaya since I was 3 years old and have been coaching for 3 years. I most recently played tennis for Bellevue College this past year while attending the University of Washington full-time.

Luke Madath (425) 616-8009

I’ve been playing tennis at Klahaya since I was very young and love coaching. I competed at #1 singles for Bishop Blanchet and was grateful to have medaled at state twice. I enjoy working with players of all ages. I’ll attend Santa Clara University this September and plan to play on the club team.

Mari Brittle (206) 251-8585

I have been playing tennis at Klahaya since I was young and this program is the reason I am in love with the sport. I am a two-time WesCo girls doubles champ and three time State qualifier. My favorite tennis highlight, however, is being the 2019 Ladder Cross Champ as part of the only all girl team to ever win the tournament. I look forward to helping players of any level improve their skills and their love of the game.
